Women's Retreat

April 21-23, 2017

Step back from the hectic pace of life and come away to The Point for some much needed rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. When life gets busy, Women’s Retreat at Inspiration Point is a weekend well spent! Save $25 when you register and pay in full by March 24. Use promo code “WR2017” while registering online. Our speaker, Casey Baardson, will lead us as we dig into God’s Word under our theme verse, Psalm 119:130, “The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Casey is a gifted speaker and Bible study leader, and has a passion for studying the Word with other women. As a wife, mom, grandmother, and leader of women, Casey loves to see how the UNFOLDING of God’s Word speaks to and impacts every part of our lives.

Kitchen Lessons Learned

Molly Brunkow

After working two summers as an Assistant Cook, I’d like to think I know what I’m doing in the kitchen, but as anyone who’s ever worked as a cook can probably tell you, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. When I started my first summer as an Assistant Cook in 2015, I literally knew nothing about cooking. Thankfully, under Lindsey’s (IPoint’s Food Service Director) amazing teaching and incredible patience, I was able to go from an amateur to a real Sioux Chef (at least, that’s what I like to call myself) in the kitchen.

I thought I’d share with you a few things I’ve learned from working in the IPoint kitchen.

  1. A capital “T” and a lowercase “t” in recipes actually mean something quite different. When you put multiple tablespoons of salt into your cookies instead of teaspoons, one taste will help you quickly realize your mistake.
  2. Putting heaps of cocoa powder into a mixer and then turning the mixer on its highest speed will result in a minor explosion that covers you, the walls, the mixer, you, the countertops, you, and the other cooks (but mostly you) in cocoa powder.
  3. Lastly at IPoint, Lindsey can fix any kitchen disaster….So when she has the day off, double (or triple) check the recipe and try not to have any problems or else you’re basically done for!

I hope these tips are helpful for your future cooking and baking endeavors.
