An Experience Worth the Investment
With the wide variety of activities and experiences available to kids during the summer, parents often wrestle with the question, “Should camp be a priority for our family?” Here are just a few of the reasons that make camp worth the investment of both your time and money:
Faith Grows at Camp
An eighth grade boy commented on his survey at the end of Jr. High camp, “This place is so rich with Christ.” Because the message of the Gospel is weaved into everything we do at Inspiration Point, campers often leave camp with a new passion for their faith. “Camp is where my faith began,” said a 12th grade camper, “and it grows stronger every year.”
Have the Time of Your Life
With the increased pressure to outperform their peers in sports, the arts and academics and our over dependence on electronics, there are few places that allow kids to be kids – to play, use their imaginations and just have fun. “This is the most fun I have all year,” said a tenth grader. “To be honest, at the end [of camp] I never want to leave.”
According to a recent study conducted by The Kaiser Family Foundation, the average American kid only spends 4 minutes playing outside each day, while over 7 hours is spent on electronics. “Camp is the best part of my summer every summer,” said an eighth grade camper.
Build Friendships that Last a Lifetime
“Before camp, I was afraid of not knowing anyone,” said a sixth grade girl. “Now the girls that were in my cabin are my best friends.” Camp is a safe place where kids can let down walls and build friendships that last a lifetime. “Camp is always the highlight of my summer. I meet so many new friends and have so much fun,” said a tenth grade camper.
Try Something New
Whether it’s your first time at camp or your tenth, we are constantly planning activities to allow campers to try something different and develop new skills! Camp is a safe environment that gives kids the opportunity to take healthy risks, step out of their comfort zones and be challenged in new ways.
Positive Role Models
When asked what his favorite part of camp was, a tenth grade boy commented, “the awesome personal relationship with my counselor!” In today’s culture, positive role models who genuinely care about kids are more important than ever before. “The staff is genuine and excited to share the Truth they have,” said an 11th grader. “They are amazing and such great examples of what it is to live for Christ.”
