A Story from Day Camp

Day CampWhile on Day Camp one of our staff members had a shy little boy in his cabin.  At the beginning of the week, he didn’t know him very well, but as the week progressed he found out that his home life was hard; the camper didn’t have a father, he didn’t get along well with his older brother, and his mother was dying of cancer.  Despite this, the camper had an open heart to what God wanted to teach him.  His joyful smile, energetic spirit, and eagerness to learn was so amazing.  On the last day, the church handed out Bibles to kids who didn’t have one.  This shy little boy was one of them. He was overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude as a Bible was handed him.  This camper went home that week with joy, knowing that God loves him and will take care of him no matter what he goes through in life.

This story is just one of the hundreds of stories that could be told about how God is working both here at The Point and in communities all throughout the Midwest through our day camp program. This summer we are grateful for the opportunity to bring the message of the Gospel to over 1,200 students in 30 different communities. For more information about hosting a day camp at your church, please contact the camp office.

Expanding Horizons

New Land Makes Room for More Campers
Expanding HorizonsWith summer youth camp attendance quickly approaching an all-time high level, several camps have been packed full with campers this summer.  When we think of the difference camp makes in the lives of kids, we can’t help but be concerned that future summers may find camp full and kids needing to be turned away because our beds are full.  But praise God that He is providing additional property that already includes three cabins that will be ready for use in 2012!  With the addition of these three cabins alone, we will be able to welcome more than 200 more campers over the course of an entire summer.

-LTD-

(Leadership Training Day) - September 10, 2011
-LTD-Pastors, youth leaders, children’s ministry leaders, and anyone who assembles a team of leaders: This day is set aside for you to bring your ministry teams for training and teambuilding. Whether you want to train Sunday School teachers, board members, youth group volunteers, college-age leaders, high school students who lead in your setting, or any combination of the above; this day will be invaluable! Come together as a group of people interested in investing in the next generation, and leave united with essential tools for bringing the Gospel to children and youth.

Psalm 78:4, 6a, 7a says, “We will not hide them (God’s teachings) from the children, we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power and the wonders he has done. So the next generation would know them…and then they will put their trust in God.”

Strategically, this event is held right away in the fall as your groups begin to meet. Come away to be charged up for a great year of loving young people in the name of Jesus! In addition to team building though Adventure Course, there will be two seminar sessions. Sessions will focus on leadership development and understanding today’s youth culture.
