IPoint Equips
September 27-28, 2013
Pastors, youth leaders, children’s ministry directors, teachers, and parents – this event is for you! IPOINT EQUIPS is designed to provide high quality training and teaching to those who invest in the lives of others.

Duffy Robbins, Professor of Youth Ministry at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pennsylvania, is a thirty-six year veteran of youth ministry. Duffy speaks around the world to teenagers and people who care about teenagers.
Duffy has his D.Min. in Youth and Family Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, and he’s the author of numerous books including Ministry of Nurture, This Way to Youth Ministry: An Introduction to the Adventure, Speaking to Teenagers (co-authored with Doug Fields), Youth Ministry Nuts and Bolts, Enjoy the Silence (co-authored with the lovely Maggie Robbins) and his latest book, Building a Youth Ministry That Disciples.
Session 1: Getting Inside Their Heads
“Is life so different from when I was 13?” What makes the teenage years so tough? This seminar will give you some insight into why your teenager acts the way they do...or the way they don’t. We’ll look at some of these issues: How is growing up today different from twenty or thirty years ago? What makes adolescence such a perilous journey? What are the three key factors that shape the teenage experience in this second decade of the new millennium? What is adolescent schizophrenia, and how does it affect your child?
Session 2: Helping Teens Grow Spiritually
At the end of the day, it isn‘t the church, the youth group, Oprah, Bono or VeggieTales who is responsible for nurturing the spiritual lives of our children. That responsibility is ours; and what a precious, weighty, sometimes exhilarating and sometimes difficult calling it is! But, what does real life discipleship look like in the life of a teenager? Is there really any such thing as a teenage disciple? This seminar offers encouragement and practical guidance as we undertake this sacred task. You’ll learn some of the basic traits of teenage discipleship: A first-hand faith A faith that affects the heart and the head A faith that impacts everyday life A faith that endures even in the midst of struggle A faith that becomes flesh.
Session 3: The Basics
Why is youth ministry important? What is biblical youth ministry supposed to accomplish? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in a fresh way – a way that will stick in your mind and spur you on to lay a foundation that provides a solid footing for ministry.
Session 4: A Message Too Good to Mess Up
To close out this series, Duffy will bring a message that will encourage, comfort, and exhort as we’re reminded of the power of the Gospel to affect lives.
We’ll follow the last message with a small-group breakout time so folks have opportunity to process what they heard, and we’ll wrap up by 3pm.
Get Away. Get Life. Get to The Point.
