Explorer 1 Sunday Night Update

Our first day of Explorer 1 was FULL of fun & laughter!  151 campers (between 3rd and 5th grade) arrived on Sunday afternoon to begin a fantastic week of camp.  Campers checked in at the Octagon, where they found out their cabin assignment.  They were immediately greeted by staff who led them to their room, pointing out important places at camp along the way.  At 5pm, campers gathered for our OPENING, where they saw a skit that introduced our theme for the week.  A t-shirt was given away to the first winner of the week and each cabin was announced and encouraged as they went off to begin their evening together.

Every camper had the opportunity to put their favorite pizza toppings on their slice at dinner, ensuring that everyone enjoyed their first meal! The smiles were BIG as the pizza was served! Check out the attached photos for evidence :)

Each cabin group spent time learning about the "ins and outs" of camp, led by the cabin leader.  IPoint cares deeply about kids feeling safe, included, and cared for throughout the week, so our cabin leaders work hard to set that up diligently on the very first evening.  Along with setting up the week, cabins took time to write a song together - it's easy to imagine how this builds community among the groups! Laughter rings out from ALL around as the songs are put together!

Later in the evening, campers joined together as one big group to enjoy what we call "HOOTENANNY!" This event is a tradition at IPoint - cabin songs are shared, the staff are more formally introduced, and the very first theme verse is taught using sign language.

To finish out the night, campers gathered around the campfire to sing praise to Jesus! This Explorer group in particular LOVES to sing - their time of worship is truly an offering of praise to God. We can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store!
